What I Do For Others

As a member of society, I enjoy bettering the lives of others through selfless acts. Through National Honors Society, PeaceJam, and the SPCA, I have become more grateful, more understanding, but most importantly, more eager to help others.

What I've Done for My Community

A Few of My Experiences

National Honors Society

Recycling

Although there are an abundance of volunteering opportunities offered like blanket making for the gospel mission and Martin Luther King Day at WMU, a staple piece of NHS at Loy Norrix is running the school wide recycling program weekly.  I'm proud to be doing my  part of making the world a cleaner, safer place.

PeaceJam

Literacy Project

After doing a multitude of different volunteer activities including the International Peace Day Conference, College-bound Day at WMU, and Santa's Workshop downtown, the most impactful activity I have participated in is the Literacy Project. This project spans six weeks and improves the reading and comprehension skills of fourth graders at an under-developed school.

PeaceJam

Food Drive

Through PeaceJam, I collected nonperishables for two weeks, sorted them into family-sized baskets, and helped to package food for the holidays to 110 families in need at Loy Norrix. This experience broadened my perspective on how people around me live and motivated me to do even more. (picture shown below)

SPCA

Volunteer

My newest volunteer commitment has been the SPCA in my county. Here, I help give dogs and cats opportunity to exercise, promote animals in order to increase chance of adoption, and give love to animals that deserve it.

Robotics Badge Event

Girl Scouts Volunteer

I volunteered to help teach girls of all ages in Girl Scouts about STEM and robots. During the event, the girls explore what robots do, how to design them, and learn how they're built and programmed. I helped lead an activity to teach Brownies programming using a website that mimicked what it would actually be like t program a robot.
